Starting a new year is a great opportunity to start working on all those projects we’ve left waiting for a while. However, when the time to move from thought to action arrives, we might be facing a lack of motivation that makes us keep leaving our goals for later. That’s why we need to forget about the perfect time, stop over-thinking thing, make action continuous, face our fears and overcome them, and get rid of distractions. This way, we will be able to achieve all our objectives.
Forget About the Perfect Time
More often than we might realize, the only thing keeping us from starting all those projects we have in mind is ourselves. If we keep waiting for the perfect time to start something, we will never be able to move from thought to action. We need to realize that any moment is a good moment to start working on our projects and take action today will get us closer to our goals.
Stop Over-Thinking and Go for It
Being a perfectionist can be a roadblock that makes it difficult for us to move from thought to action. If we over-think every aspect of our projects, we might never feel ready to take the first step. There is nothing wrong with analyzing our situation, but fixating on small details can be quite exhausting. Instead of finding reasons not to pursue our goals, we should go for it and make the most out of the time we have.
Make Action Continuous
Taking the step is the hardest part when we want to move from thought to action, but once we do, the second step isn’t as hard. If we make action continuous, we’ll be able to take advantage of the momentum we’re getting. Take the time to spend 15 to 30 minutes completing small daily tasks. If we commit to this, we’ll be much closer to our goals than we may realize.
Face and Overcome Your Fears
One of the most common challenges we endure when we want to move from thought to action is facing and overcoming our fears. Whether it is fear of failure, of disappointing our loved ones, or realizing our idea wasn’t as good as we thought, we need to overcome such fears and move forward. Ironically, action can be a cure for fear. Once we get started, we will realize there was nothing to be afraid of really.
Get Rid of the Distractions
Last but not least, one of the most effective ways to move from thought to action is by getting rid of all the distractions we have around us. If we notice we spend too much time scrolling down on social media, set a timer and move on with your day. Another way to get rid of distractions is by planning your days ahead, allowing time to work on your projects and limiting the amount of idle time you may be having.
