Remember That Local Is Global
If the pandemic has taught us a lesson is that local is global, and vice versa. What happens in a remote corner of the world affects us all. At the same time, our individual actions have consequences on a global scale. As you gradually return to normal, keep seeing things through this lens. You will have a clearer vision of the reality around you and a more comprehensive understanding of the world.
Reflect on the Lessons You Have Learned
The last year put us all to the test in many ways. It was an exhausting experience for sure, but it also represents an opportunity for growth. Make a list of the things you have done right over the last many months. Chances are that you will discover that you are stronger, wiser, and more courageous than you thought. Also, make sure to make a list of the things you would do differently—it represents a roadmap for your personal growth.
Remember That It’s Normal to Be Stressed
Returning to normal is great news, but don’t forget to remind yourself that it’s also normal to feel stressed or overwhelmed by the transition. Below are a couple of tips to help you ease back into your pre-pandemic routine.
- Start small. Begin with the basics: take a look at your daily planner, think about what things will start changing for you and start planning and preparing. These small actions will make things a lot easier.
- Focus on the positive. A smart way to relieve anxiety is to focus on what is pleasant about what you are about to do. For example, if you feel stressed about returning to the office, think of the fun interactions you will again have with your coworkers, or the places you will be able to visit again.
